President Thomas S. Monson is remembered as the 'prophet of service' for his unwavering emphasis on humanitarian work and caring for the poor and needy. Throughout his presidency, miracles of divine direction guided him to individuals and families in desperate need. Stories abound of Monson being impressed to visit specific addresses, call specific individuals, or provide specific assistance — only to discover that his arrival prevented tragedy or provided exactly what was needed.
