President Spencer W. Kimball was diagnosed with cancer in 1971 while serving as President of the Quorum of the Twelve. Doctors gave him a grave prognosis. Yet through faith, priesthood power, and modern medical care, Kimball was healed and went on to serve as President of the Church for twelve years. During his presidency, he led the Church through extraordinary growth and initiated the expansion of temple work worldwide. His healing was itself a testament to divine mercy — the Lord preserved his life to accomplish a vital work.
