Willard Richards Healed Immediately When Prayer Answered for Kirtland Journey

As documented in Willard Richards' personal journal, he received powerful testimony of the reality of divine communication and healing power. On June 5, 1837, after receiving a letter from Elijah Fordham about pressing business matters in Kirtland, Willard felt a strong desire to depart immediately. However, wishing to know the mind of the Spirit rather than acting on impulse, he submitted the matter to the Lord in prayer. As he recorded: 'I submitted the case to the Lord, praying that my head might be relieved from pain immediately, if it was the Lord's will I should start for Kirtland at daybreak, which prayer was answered.' Willard's head pain was immediately relieved at the exact moment he prayed, confirming to him God's will that he should depart. 'I started for Kirtland, and arrived on the 11th; had a pleasant and happy interview with Brother Brigham and his dear family.' This healing served as a direct answer to prayer about divine guidance.
