Wilford Woodruff Miraculously Healed from Lameness Through Prayer

While on a missionary journey in 1831, Wilford Woodruff experienced a sudden and severe lameness that confined him to his bed. As Wilford recorded: 'About the first of October, though still weak and feeble, I started on foot for Ohio, in company with Asa Dodds, preaching by the way, as commanded of the Lord through the Prophet.' He documented that during his journey through Arkansas and Missouri, while traveling through swamps and difficult terrain, he was struck with 'a sudden lameness' that left him alone in an alligator swamp. At this critical moment, Wilford recorded: 'Left Alone in an Alligator Swamp—Healed, in Answer to Prayer.' This divine healing through the power of faith and prayer enabled Wilford to continue his mission work despite being 'still weak and feeble' from a previous illness. The healing was instantaneous enough to allow him to travel hundreds of miles on foot and preach the gospel continuously during his journey.
