Parley P. Pratt Healed of Fever and Ague Through Laying On of Hands

From early February 1832 until late June 1832, Parley P. Pratt was 'very sick of fever and ague' while ministering among the churches in Jackson County, Missouri. This sickness afflicted him for an extended period, seriously impeding his missionary work. About the middle of February, Parley attended a conference in Jackson County presided over by Bishop Edward Partridge. At this conference, a miraculous event occurred: Parley 'was healed by the laying on of hands.' This healing through the priesthood power restored him to health with sufficient strength that 'the next day [he] started my return mission in company with John Murdock and others.' This divine healing demonstrated the reality of the priesthood's power to heal the sick and provided Parley with renewed vigor to continue his missionary labors. After a 'tedious journey of a thousand miles,' he and his companions 'arrived in Kirtland, Ohio, in May 1832, having preached by the way with some success.'
