Henry William Bigler served with the Mormon Battalion during their historic 1846-1847 march from Iowa to California. Despite severe hardships, lack of supplies, harsh terrain, and disease, the battalion completed their remarkable 2,000+ mile journey. Bigler's survival and successful completion of this punishing military expedition testified to divine protection and sustenance during one of the most difficult pioneer experiences.
