In October 1835, Joseph Smith Sr., the father of Joseph Smith Jr., lay upon his deathbed. According to Joseph Smith's own account recorded in his personal journal, he received the power from the Lord to raise his father from that deathbed, miraculously delivering him from death.
This account of a father being healed from a mortal illness and raised from deathbed demonstrates the power of priesthood authority and the Lord's intervention in response to faith and prayer.
Joseph Smith Sr. was an important figure in early Church history, and his preservation at this critical moment had profound significance for the development of the Restoration.
