Elder Jacobs Healed Immediately Through Administration in Buffalo During a Deadly Epidemic

In late June 1843, Oliver Huntington and his companion Elder Henry B. Jacobs arrived in Buffalo, New York during a violent epidemic that was described as worse than the cholera outbreak. One eyewitness said '75 were buried in one day' in the city.

At Brother Folsom's house, Elder Jacobs was 'taken violently worse and thrown on to his bed.' The disease was acute and sudden.

Huntington recorded:

'Elder Coats and myself administered to him in the name of the Lord, and he got better immediately so that he walked 1/2 a mile to Brother Brown's and stayed all night.'

The healing was instantaneous — from being thrown onto his bed to walking half a mile. This occurred in a city where dozens were dying daily and the disease had been spreading through Ohio and western New York.
