Robert Mason's Foreknowledge: Told Wilford Woodruff He Would Be a Leader in God's Restored Kingdom

In 1830, Robert Mason of Connecticut — a man known for his belief in ongoing prophecy and revelation when such beliefs were considered heretical — shared a vision with young Wilford Woodruff that he had received around 1800. In it, the Lord revealed that no true Church existed on earth but that one would be restored in the next generation. Mason told Woodruff directly: "I shall never partake of this fruit in the flesh; but you will, and you will become a conspicuous actor in that kingdom."

This was hidden knowledge about Woodruff's future destiny — given to Mason 30 years before it came to pass. Woodruff was indeed baptized in 1833, became one of the original Apostles in this dispensation, served numerous missions, recorded more history of the early Church than any other person, and eventually became the fourth President of the Church. Mason's foreknowledge of Woodruff's specific divine calling is one of the most remarkable examples of hidden prophetic knowledge in early Restoration history.
