In 2003, two missionaries serving in São Paulo, Brazil, were confronted by armed robbers on a dark street. According to their account, as the robbers approached, they suddenly stopped, looked frightened, and fled. When asked later what happened, the robbers reportedly said they saw 'large men in white' standing behind the missionaries.
